Happy New Year
Well, hopefully everyone is enjoying themselves in Utah. Sorry we could not come and add to the party. Friday was our window of opportunity, and we missed that. Saturday the weather was terrible. Clearing up some today, but I have a feeling tonight won't be the same with just Kristen and I. Enjoy the good times, and we'll see you all soon. Except for maybe you Kim and Joe.

Jeff & Kristen's Christmas Letter
Hey everyone, Since we are too lazy to mail you all Christmas cards, here is the letter that Kristen wrote to the few we did send out. (you can scroll down a bit to see the picture we sent with it). By the way, good to have you home Joe!
Seasons Greetings to our family and friends! It seems that this past year has gone by so quickly, and we can hardly believe it is time to be sending out Christmas cards. We have been in Idaho Falls for almost three years and in our home for one year. We have enjoyed getting to know the people in our neighborhood and are feeling at home here. It has been so nice to be in a home, although we are still living in the basement and renting out the top. We enjoyed “experimenting” with a garden this summer—who knew that squash and zucchini were so productive! We also started landscaping our yard a little and have great plans for it!
Jeff has had a busy year! He completed his appraisal training and will be licensed and certified soon! This year he traveled to Las Vegas, Seattle, and Salt Lake City for classes. He is enjoying his work and stays quite busy with it and his church calling. He is pleased with the way BYU (football) played this year and is already looking forward to next season.
I (Kristen) am staying busy with a busy husband and two active kids! I really enjoyed spending time outside this summer and fall with the family. I also enjoyed reading some great books and trying some new recipes this year. I had my appendix out in October, but thanks to a great ward family and two wonderful moms, it was a smooth recovery. It is amazing how much time and energy a family takes, but I feel so blessed to be at home for Jeff and for the kids.
Emily turned three in September. She has been a great help since Joshua was born, and loves to be at my side all day. She loves to read and often sits down with a book on her own. She knows “Peter Rabbit” by heart; Jeff and I love to hear her recite “the sparrows flew to him [Peter] in great excitement and implored him to exert himself!” Talk about a vocabulary!!
Joshua had his first birthday this October. He is such a busy boy. I feel lucky if I get his diaper changed. Forget about putting the pants back on, he’s too busy!! His favorite things to do are to empty the kitchen drawers, empty the bathroom cupboards, and splash in the bathtub. He also loves to be read to. He is picking up more and more signs and says “cracker”, “daddy”, “clock”, “woof”, and “quack, quack”. He is truly a joy.
We hope this holiday season finds you all healthy and happy. We hope that you feel the love of the Lord in your hearts. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.
Lots of love,
Jeff, Kristen, Emily, and Joshua

Media
Just my opinion, but after following the news stories for a while, seeing which stories are reported, which are highlighted, which are headlined, and who is left out, I am going to make the following observation on the presidential campaign:
The Media, whether it is a conscious effort or not, wants Hillary to win--Obama is a good story, but not their prize.
They want to use Romney as a storyline, but not as a competitor. No one is interested in him except liberal Republicans--but that is never really talked about.
Ron Paul is another good salt and pepper figure.
McCain is the most interesting republican, who they want to win.

Sorry, Doug--
On my computer at school, your posts came up as empty, so I figured that the links or videos or pictures or whatever never uploaded, so I deleted the posts. I just got home and Kati told me that there were videos, so I am an idiot, and apologize, and will ask if you could put them back on?

Just a hello
Hey everyone. Just thought I would write a bit since it has been awhile. Not that there is much to say. It looks like Joe will be home around the 22nd of this month. Yeah!!! We are excited but not really thinking about it because it makes the days draw out too long. As for me and Bryar we are doing great. She is sick right now but still a trooper. Hope that everyone has a good couple of weeks and I want to see christmas pictures of everyone on her after the big day. Until later. And I love the new sight Kati looks great!! Much more fun than what we had. Plus I have our sight as our home page and it is fun to get on the internet and always have music right when I get on. You're the best
Hello
This is Christy Val Atwood seeing if I still know how to use this thing. It is interesting how easy it is for the mind to forget how to do these type of things. I am also going to post a picture is I can. Ya'll have a merry christmas now.... Looks like a good place to go arrowhead hunting to me.. Some of you may remember playing around this rock. It is donut rock by little brushcreek where I lived when I was a kid.
AF vs. Mater Dei
Here are some incredible highlights from when we played the number three, and currently #2 team in the nation this year. It is a chance to see Jake Murphy, who is on his way to BYU. (Turn down the music. The reason I have this is because they gave it to me to change the music on it.)
pay attention to the awesome drive at the end of the first half--Murphy's last chance grab for a T.D.

Romney's Speech
I have been following the fallout of the Romney Speech, just to see what kind of press the Church is going to get, though we have all seen it happen before. I read all of the comments and arguing after the articles, and it is amazing how many people attack the church--as always. What is more amazing is that many people who seem to be non-members have begun to stick up for the Church. In years past, I didn't see as many people coming out and saying that the Mormons they know are good people, etc. The fight against the church is getting bigger, but we are getting some new allies, I believe, and that is a reflection of what will happen eventually. A lot of good people are going to recognize the merits of the church because they will cleave unto that which is good. A lot of them are going to be routing for the cougars in the Millenium.

How about this song? Anyway, if you get sick of the music you can go down to the very bottom of the page and switch songs or turn in off. I'm planning another blog overhaul next week, so be prepared for something totally different if you are sick of chick music :)

Address Links
Mom is going to start a blog, and no, it is not about our ancestors or about how she isn't losing her mind. It is going to be linked to this page and it will contain an online address book that will be updates as she gets changes, and will include the whole world eventually, but for now, just the Nebeker side of it. Send her your stuff so we can all get updated.

Howdy Y'all!!
So I'm sitting here at my temporary job which lasts until tomorrow afternoon, and I thought that I would post to the blog since I haven't in a while. I'm supposed to be editing a website (prometric.com), but they are running out of changes for us to make - which is why the job ends tomorrow.
Anyway I hope everyone is having a holly jolly Christmas, and we should all post our Christmas wish lists for everyone to see.
Hugs,
Shane

Summary
Thanks for a great thanksgiving, Idaho, and thanks for a great victory, BYU, and a near thanks for John Beck in his 2nd start with the dolphins, who almost got their first victory last night, and almost scored a point.
Resurrect the blog--it slows down when people visit, but we will all go through withdrawals without each other.
And thanks, Rem, for the ear. Everyone asks me about it all day long. It looks a lot better since I picked the scab last night.

Attaching Pictures...
...go to "New Post" atop the page, and on the toolbar across the top of the tabs, there are some settings like spell-check, eraser, etc. There is one video-reel icon and another landscape photograph icon. If you click on the photograph, it lets you put a picture on the blog as a post. You click the "Browse" button, and then go to the file where your picture is held (usually in MY PICTURES). Select the picture and then click on "OPEN" and it will accept your picture. You will not necessarily see the picture, but it will send you back to your blank post page, and if you hit "Publish Post" at the bottom, then it will put the picture on the blog.

Your prediction was wrong. A.F. 41, Hunter 19--and there you have it, the Cavemen are in the state semi-finals for the first time in 23 years. Rice-Eccles vs. Layton this Friday.

Babies
Well, it has been a lot of fun here at the American Fork hospital. We snuck Jonas into the room of __________________, and took some pictures. Kati and Christy are both doing great, and the babies both look swell. I have created an Atwood baby, something that I was beginning to think is impossible outside of Doug's family. His name has gone back and forth a few times (Jonas'), but it is final at this point. It is 100% possible that we will not change it again.
Also, American Fork won the region championship vs. P.G. last night, 34-14. If the Cougars play like they should in an hour, then the weekend will be perfect. Enjoy the photos.

another small hello
Just a small thank you to all who helped us with our basement this last Friday and those who helped other times (dad). It is going well and will look great when its all done. Kirk just finished his soccer season so he had a little more time to work on it. He is still pretty busy with 8 classes and his calling so he's doing a great job with what he has done. And he keeps telling me he's starting his masters but so far, nothing has come of that.
We are looking forward to Kimmy and Shane coming back to Utah for Halloween. Porter was going to be a mummy but I don't think the head wrapping would go over well. Kirk wont dress up and who knows what I'll be doing so Porter's the only festive one this year.
I guess thats it for now. Hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Conference
So, Eyring's talk in priesthood was dominant, as was Oaks' but Holland took the philosophes and beat them to death with their own shoes. President Hinkley wasn't too easy on the Nicene Creed either.
It was fabulous, and I had to clap at the end of Elder Holland's spectacular intellectual triumph.
In closing, check out my uvula.

Hi from Kristen
Hello everyone! Thought I'd venture on this blog under Jeff's name. So while we are in the hospital, Jeff tells me he is going to post some pictures of me on "the blog". First of all, I've never seen this blog except for a few seconds over Jeff's shoulder a few weeks ago. But I think it's great! Second of all, they had given me 3 doses of morphine, so Jeff could have told me he was flying to the moon and I would've said the same thing, "okay babe, sounds great". Anyway, I just wanted to apologize for the pics of my innards. Had I been a little more alert I might have protested! Oh well. I am feeling better, not good yet, but mom got here tonight, and she will be a big help for the next couple of days!!
What else is new...Jeff is working on a huge appraisal right now; it will take most of his time for the next few weeks. Jeff cut Emily's hair tonight (4 inches), it's cute. Joshua is still quite attached to me, and very very busy. He climbed in the dishwasher the other day, tries to get in the lazy susan and every other cupboard, and will not hold still for anything. It's good for me, teaching me to relax a little.
Love you all-
Kristen

She's still alive! (barely)
Well, here is my brave little wife right after surgery. There were some issues during the operation. It had partially ruptured, so some fluid had leaked out. Also, Kristen is one of those rare people without an enzyme that eats a paralytic drug. What was supposed to knock her out for five minutes (to get a breathing tube down) lasted over an hour. She also was weak and could not breath because of it. They put her on a respirator and stuff to help her out. Over time strength came back. She should be fine in a while.
Sorry no picture of Kristen with her breathing tubes, just the picture of her operation.
Check out Shane's blog
Everyone who wants to just be aware of some views and comments relative to our time, check out Shane's blog. He's put some time and thought into concerns for our day. Right or wrong, it's time we all paid attention to things happening etc.

More BvM thoughts
Mom didn't care too much the other day when I threw this at her, but as I was biking to school this morning I thought I'd share it and ask what you think, if anything...
So, as far as I know, the name of King Lamoni's father is never given in the BvM. Well, as I was reading several days ago, I noticed that there was a Lamanitish city called Ani-Anti. Most cities in the BvM are named after people, so why not Ani-Anti. Perhaps even after two people?
Then, the people of Ammon take the name Anti-Nephi-Lehi, and try as anyone may, no one has ever given me a good explanation of this name. Once I looked it up in a BvM Commentary, and it said some whiff about anti possibly meaning "a reflection of" in the first American dictionary, printed in 1828, but I then went and found a copy of that dictionary and didn't really see it in there. Anyway, Joseph Smith using a very obscure usage of a prefix never made much sense to me anyway, especially one that would mask the true desire of the people of Ammon, who wanted to, in fact, be viewed as followers of Nephi and Lehi. Wouldn't they want to choose a name that showed their allegiance to the religion of the prophets? Joseph Smith would probably not be inspired to choose wording that highlights the opposite idea.
But, if the people, who joined as a cultural and political unit, used the name of their leader, the king, who was such a devout follower of Christ, would they not use his name, Anti, to show who they were, and then Nephi and Lehi to show to whom they were connecting? YES.
And finally, his son takes on the name Anti-Nephi-Lehi, if my memory serves. That is a crazy name, unless his father was also named Anti, and in that case there is a good chance that his name was Anti already, and all he was doing was adding the names of the prophets to his own, which was a common Middle-Eastern custom among royalty (see Tutankhamun).
My theory is--his name was Anti.
Out.
