Hello everyone here are the pictures promised. The first picture is just a bonus of Bryar walking. Then it goes the front door of the room to the window wall to the masterbath/closet. Joe worked hard on that pocket door and we love it. And we love Joe.

Kim's 30th birthday is just around the corner

Hi everyone. I am just letting you all know that there is only eight days until my birthday so if you are wanting to send me a card you should start thinking about it today and get it off in the next few days to make it here in time. Love you all.

P.S. you could send one to Doug to I guess.

Sorry . . .

Sorry about the clip I posted of Miss S. Carolina. Mom somehow linked from it to another clip where there was some profanity. I'm not sure how she got there from the clip, but I took it down just in case.

How to post a video clip . . .

Actually, there is a new little icon above where you would type your new post where you can upload small clips from your computer - i.e. video clips from your phone or camera that you have taken. But, actually I've been piggy-backing my video clips from Youtube or Myspacetv.com. How you do this is - once you find something you would like to post (on youtube or myspacetv) There are usually a couple of lines in the video description (to the right or underneath the video) one says URL and then gives you a bunch of gibberish - the other says EMBED and it gives you more gibberish. It looks something like this object width = yadda yadda yadda This is code that your computer understands even if you don't. So, you click on the gibberish (make sure it is all highlighted) and type "ctrl C" at the same time to copy it. When you are posting your comment press enter after you type a line or two and press "ctrl V" at the same time to paste this gibberish text in your acutal post. For these, you DON'T use the little icon at the top of the text box - you just make sure this gibberish text is in the body of your post. Give it a try, it is really easy once you get the hang of it - and you look really smart. :)

Have a great week everyone!

Back From Seattle

Well, Kristen and I got back from Seattle late Saturday night. It was pretty fun, as we went up through Boise and back through Spokane. Kristen is petrified I will move her to Spokane and she will be too far away from her family, and mine. It is a nice place though. Anyway, I was in class all day, so we did not do much of anything. We tried to go to Pike Place Market like Doug and Tonia said, but it closed before we could make it, so maybe next time. We did go to the beach and here are a few photos of my family for you all to enjoy. By the way, we stayed with Tara (Lyman) and Jon Kerr. They have an extra bedroom and possibly 2, and Tara told me to tell everyone that ever wants to go to Seattle that they have a free place to stay anytime. She would like to have some guests. Just so you know.

Hello to the Atwoods

This is the first time I've really looked at the blog so Kirk is teaching me how it all works. So I guess I'll tell everyong how things are going. Good. Thanks for asking.
The truth is we are all sick here at the Johnson house. We all got sick from our trip to Cali and are still recouperating. I'll just throw in a reminder about my spelling so there are no expectations not met. We are still working on our house (or thinking about it) but are still a ways away from drywall. Kirk has started school and has students coming tomorrow. He is teaching all french this year and is coaching the girls soccer team. Hey, it's something. Our summer has been fun but now it's back to real life. No more fun vacations. We're excited for Shane to come back and see us and also Kimmy. If anyone has good ideas for Thanksgiving, let us know. Its just not as fun by ourselves for some reason. And...we love you all!

I just have a massive headache and need some sympathy.

MAC CONVERT

So, here I sit on my MAC (APPLE) computer, given me by the school, and I am an instant fan. I have had it about a week now and without instruction, and having absolutely no idea how to use it, have gotten it down pretty well. I have been able to find things very easy and figure it out all by myself. It is so much more user-friendly and problem free. What's more, it is compatible with everything. I strongly recommend looking into one if anyone is in the market for a new computer. It is awesome and suddenly I like computers. Plus, the icons are more cooler.

Chia's wedding

Hello everyone

I just thought I would contribute to the blog like everyone else.
This past week has been really good, mostly because I didn't have to work for half of it. I got to go to the beach and remember that I am bald and need to wear sunscreen on my head.

Anyway, the summer has been really good and it looks like we will be coming home a week early, so I won't even have to drive all night to make it to the BYU game on Saturday.

I thought I would post a few pictures from Chia's wedding and Sears Tower etc.
Hope you all enjoy

Rem

I also had some other pictures, but they were on my camera instead of my computer. I guess if anyone wants I can post those later.

Fascinating - Fits with all I've been studying.

The Cardston Temple Vision

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

During the winter of 1921, a lady by the name of Sola Cuardisto, a non-Mormon at the time, was given an invitation to visit the Cardston Temple. She resided in the town of Lethbridge, Canada, and the following is what she testifies took place while she was in the Temple as a tourist previous to its dedication.

"The Temple was kindly and intelligently explained to us by Mr. Duco on the one occasion, and by Mr. Wood on our second visit; but I am afraid I was a very indifferent and inattentive member of the party upon both occasions; for which I tender my sincere apologies. I had no intentions of being wrong, rude, or discourteous, but from the moment of entering the Temple to leaving, I was placed in a position of having, as it were, to listen to and grasp a dual narrative at the same time, with the result that so engrossed was I at times, that I am afraid I was so absentminded as to appear inattentive, if not positively stupid.

Time and again as I listened to the speaker explaining some phase of the building or its meaning, I would be seeing beyond him some illustration of a kaleidoscopic nature, depicting what he was describing, only more completely and more vividly. The characters were so plain to me that I required all my self-control to keep silence from room to room. This continued and only ceased when we emerged into the frost and snow once more.

There was no set plan for presenting those pictures or expressions to me. It seemed as if when I thought of something mental, a picture instantly presented itself in explanation, or some word of the conductor, which would have the same effect. I was not afraid, only awed by the wonder of it all and the fearful impressive feeling I received, which seemed to imbed little detailed scenes into my brain, from which I feel it will never be erased. Every now and again I would seem to receive a command: "Observe, remember and record." And vivid as all of it was, these incidents herein related are the ones upon which I received the instructions.

The scenes, which I observed of a historical character, seemed chiefly to verify and amplify the speaker's outline of past history, and so I do not feel impressed to record such, except to state that the same patriarchal characters whom I observed directing and influencing the early movements of the Church, were the same down through every age and epoch, and as the scene advanced to more modern times, I saw among those spiritual counselors, persons whose features I had previously observed as being in the material body on other historical occasions.

It seemed as if the temple were filled with the actual spiritual bodies of these previous leaders of the church, each seeming to have a definite work to do, automatically taking up in the spirit world the work that person was engaged in while in the flesh. In this temple I saw persons who were leaders in your church during the march across the American desert, now engaged in helping those higher patriarchs under whose orders they seemed to be working. It was these latter spiritual leaders, if I may use the term, who seemed instructed to show me the scenes here recorded.

I can give no time to the happenings, except that the impressions I received were of the actual present or immediate future. I saw first a brief but comprehensive sketch of the present state of the world, or as you would term it: The Gentile Kingdoms. Each country was shown--its anarchy, hunger, ambitions, distrusts, and warlike activities, etc.;
and in my mind was formed from some source the words:
"AS IT IS TODAY WITH THE GENTILES."

I next saw international war again break out with its center upon the Pacific Ocean, but sweeping and encircling the whole globe. I saw that the opposing forces were roughly divided by so-called Christianity on the one side, and by the so-called followers of Mohammed and Buddha upon the other.

I saw that the great driving power within these so-called Christian nations was the Great Apostasy of Rome in all its political, social and religious aspects.
I saw the worldwide dislocation and devastation of production and slaughter of people occur more swiftly and upon a larger scale than ever before. I saw an antagonism begin to express itself from those so-called Christian nations against your people. I saw those of a similar faith to yours in the East begin to look toward Palestine for safety.

I saw the international world automatically break down, and National revolutions occur in every country to complete the work of chaos and desolation. I saw geological disturbances occur, which helped in this work as if they were intended to do so.

I saw the Cardston Temple preserved from all of this geological upheaval. I saw the international boundary line disappear as these two governments broke up and dissolved into chaos.

I saw race rioting upon this continent on a vast scale. I saw hunger and starvation in the world granary of the American continent sweep off vast numbers of these conflicting elements. I saw disease produced by hunger, strife and chaos, complete the end of this present order or epoch.

How long these events were in reaching their consummation, I do not know; but my impression was that from the outbreak of the international war, these things developed in a continuous procession, and almost ran concurrently, as it is with a sickness--The various symptoms are all in evidence at one and the same time, but in different stages of development.

My intensified thought was, "What of the Church, if such is to become of the kingdoms of the earth?" This was immediately answered by a subconscious statement--"As it is in the Church today."

And I saw those higher spiritual beings throughout the length and breadth of the air, marshalling their spiritual forces and concentrating them upon the high officials in your Church on earth. I saw these spiritual forces working upon these officers, impressing and moving them, influencing and warning them. I saw these spiritual forces begin to unfold these things unto the minds of your Elders and other high officials, especially during their spiritual devotions, official duties, and other activities that exalt the minds of the individual groups. I saw the impressions take hold and inspire the more receptive and spiritual men, until it was all clearly revealed to them in the way the spiritual patriarchs desired.

Again, I seemed to hear the words: "AS IT WILL BE."

I saw high officials in council and under inspired guidance, issue instructions to your people to reconsecrate their lives and energies to their faith, to voluntarily discipline themselves by abstaining from all those forms of indulgence which weaken the body, sap the mentality, and deaden the spirit, or waste their incomes.

I saw further on, instructions given whereby the places of refuge were prepared quietly but efficiently by inspired Elders. I saw Cardston and the surrounding foothills, especially west and north for miles, being prepared for a refuge for your people, quietly and quickly.

I saw artesian wells bored, and other wells dug all over that territory, so that when the open waters were polluted and poisoned, the people of the Church and their cattle would be provided for. I saw the fuel resources of the district developed in many places and vast piles of coal and timbers stored in buildings for future use.

I saw Elders, still under divine guidance, counseling and encouraging the planting of every available acre of soil in this district, so that large supplies of food could be near the refuge.

I saw Church property under cultivation of an intensified character, not for sale or profit, but for the use of the people. I saw the inspired officers giving instructions as to what would be the best crop to plant and cultivate, not for profit, but for storage to use in the time of chaos.

I saw the territory carefully surveyed and mapped out for the camping of a great body of people of the Church. I saw provisions also made for a big influx of people who at present do not belong to the Church, but who will gather here in their tribulation.

I saw vast quantities of surgical appliances, medicines, disinfectants, etc., stored in the Temple basement.

I saw inspiration given the Elders whereby the quality, quantity, and kind of things to be stored were judged, which might not be obtainable in this territory during the time of chaos.

I saw defensive preparations made and stored as suggested by the power of inspiration. I saw the mining corridors used as places of storage underground. I saw the hills surveyed and corrals built in sequestered places for cattle, sheep, etc., quietly but quickly. I saw plans for the organization of the single men and their duties; and the scouts, the guards, the nurses, the cooks, the messengers, the children, the herders, the Temple guards, etc.

I saw these things going on practically unknown to the Gentile world, except to the Great Apostasy whose knowledge and hatred is far reaching in this day of its temporary power. All this was going on piece by piece, as the Elders were instructed, for the refuge of Zion.

I saw other officials obeying the inspired instructions, carrying their messages and exhorting your people to carry out, from time to time, the revelations given them.

While all around throughout the Gentile world, the chaos developed in varying stages, faction against faction, nation against nation; but all in open or secret hostility to your people and their faith.

I saw your people draw closer and closer together, as this became more tense and as the spiritual forces warned them through the mouth of your elders and your other officers. I saw the spiritual forces influencing those members who had drifted away, to re-enter the fold. I saw a greater tithing than ever before. I saw vast quantities of necessaries supplied by members whose spiritual eyes had been opened.

I saw a liquidation of properties and effects disposed of quietly but quickly, by members of the Church as the spiritual influences directed them.

Then I saw the inspired call sent forth to all the Church, to gather in at the refuges of Zion. I saw the stream of your people quietly moving in the direction of their refuge. I saw your people moving more quickly and in large numbers until all the stragglers were housed.

Then the wireless message was flashed from Zion's refuge to Zion's refuge in their several places, that all was well in their world.--and then the darkness of chaos closed around the boundaries of your people, and the last days of tribulation had begun."

A blonde was driving home when a guy pulled her over. The guy says, “Get out of the car and stand in this circle or something awful is going to happen to you.” So, while the blonde is standing in the circle the guy is going through her car and transporting it to his car. Then the blonde started laughing hysterically. The guy asks, "Why are you laughing? The blonde ignores him and he says, “Whatever…” and continues to rob her car.The blonde starts laughing again. "Why R U laughing again!" She again ignores him. Then just as the guy is about to drive away, the blonde starts laughing a third time "Ok… that’s it… What’s your problem,” the guy shouts???"Well, the blonde says, “When you weren't looking I stepped out of the circle three times!

Light Reading Anyone?

So if anyone is interested in a fun, light book of romantic/thriller fiction they should read Twilight by LDS author Stephanie Meyer. I started it Friday night and finished in about five and a half hours. It's an easy read, and well worth it. I know not many of you are readers, but I PROMISE those who read it will enjoy it!! I PROMISE!

One week down

Hi just sitting around here and wondering what to do today. I cleaned the house and Bryar is down for a nap so I thought I would just say hi. Joe has been gone one week so one down and a lot more to go. He did get back to Taji ok and started work again today so he is back working hard. We love him and can't wait until 2008 so he will be back.

California

Christy, Porter, and I have had a nice time here in California. We have been water skiing on the lake, we are making a trip to the beach tonight, and we were here for my Brother Kyle's Wedding yesterday. Rem got here Thursday, which means we will have seen him before everyone else. He had a great beard going that my brother made him shave off for the wedding. All is well.

Bryar says Hi

Here are some very cute photos of my little girl!!

New thought . . .

I'm sorry about the political dynamic of most of my posts, but it seems to be in my mind a lot these days. Having said that, yesterday I was thinking about the Law given to the House of Israel by Moses. The thought that came to me was that the Law was given directly from God. It was a simple, yet elegant rule to govern both their religious and political lives. However, to "protect" the Law, over the years they built up this complex maze of petty rules and regulations that many people didn't even understand. These rules and regulations eventually became the new law, and the spirit of the original faded - even though they continued to pay lip service to the divinity of the original.

In the United States today the religious and political worlds have split. They aren't under the same law - BUT - we still believe the Constitution was divinely inspired, just like the Law of Moses. So if the Constiution is our modern Law, what has become of it? Do any of you see any parrallels to the process of legal apostasy?

Jesus came to restore the people to both the legal and spiritual truths for which the Law had been given. He thus ignored the rules and regulations in order to follow the "Constitution." If, in the Last Days, the Constitution is hanging by a thread, it may be that breaking the law is the only way to save the Law . . .

pictures coming soon

Hi. Joe just left on Monday so it has been a little boring around here. As for the pictures of the room It is not quite done. The bed has been painted but it is so humid around here that I need to give it more time to dry so I am waiting until that dries before I take the pictures. I want it completely done. And Joe will not yet be home probably for Christmas so don't count on us anyway. I am debating on if I should come for October or Christmas. In October it will be Halloween and Bryar's birthday. I am thinking that I will come then over christmas becuase everyone is going to the inlaws for Christmas from what I hear and there is a very very small posibility Joe will be getting home around that time. If I come at christmas, I may have to cut my trip short. So I am thinking October and we can do some fun stuff for Halloween. That is my plan as of right now. It may change but don't count on me for Christmas.

Sorry...

I forgot to ask what everyone is doing/where they will be for Christmas this year. I would like to know so we can get our plans--which are very flexible, sort of arranged--and we would like to know where Kim and Joe will be. This is nice, because now, with these blogs, I can hopefully get this information before mom, and that drives her nuts.

Work?

Uh, I had to work today. That was weird...

Where is everyone?

So where is everyone? There were quite a few posts, but not much activity lately. Kim where are the pictures of the bedroom?

Points to Ponder . . .

We know that in the pre-mortal life Satan wanted to take away our agency, and that he wanted all of the glory for himself. This means that those who didn't keep their first estate were willing to have their agency taken from them. So if the same war rages here on earth, then we can assume two things: 1. It is very important to our spiritual progress that we do everthing possible to ensure the principles of freedom, liberty and agency. 2. Satan will be doing all he can to take those things from us. It must also means that there is a strong temptation for us to give up our liberty for a sense of worldly security, but it also suggests that such a sacrifice may carry eternal consequences. We see quite often througout history, and even today, many who feel frightened into just such a trade of liberty for security, and yet the exchange is ironic, for it actually brings enslavement rather than security.

James Madison: "Of all of the enemies of public liberty, war is perhaps the most to be dreaded."

Ben Franklin: Those who are willing to sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither and will lose both. (paraphrase)

Picture

I guess I didn't get the picture added.

Back to Iraq

Hey everyone, Joe Stoney here. Val thanks for the picture, the granite looks beautiful. I hope to see more. Yes it is true, I am catching a commercial plane tomorrow morning and heading back to Iraq. My first stop is Dallas, then maybe Scotland, and then Kuwait. Once I get to Kuwait, the movement up to Baghdad becomes more dangerous and I am then over hostile territory. I'll take an Air Force plane from Kuwait to Baghdad International Airport, and then catch helicopter ride to my home base, Camp Taji. It is northwest of Baghdad. It won't be long before I'm flying missions again. Maybe I'll be able to post a few pictures on this blog for you. My best guess is I will be gone for just a little longer than four months. January is when I think I'll get to come home. It would be great if I could be here for the holidays. Maybe with a lot of prayer it will be possible. It's been great to be home with Kim and Bryar. They are the most beautiful girls in my life. It's been wonderful to get to know Bryar. She is an Angel. I have gotten to see a few "firsts" since I've been here. Like her first unaccompanied real steps, her loud and boisterous yelling of DA DA about fifty times (usually at 7 in the morning), and the ultimate, she put her head on my shoulder and fell asleep without any blanket over her head or being forced. A feat that Kim has yet to obtain. Kim will post some pics of the finished bedroom later. That was a lot of fun to do together. Kim is amazing with power tools, thanks to her Father and brothers. She even hung the sheetrock all by her self. She was able to use every last scrap we had to fill it all in so we didn't have to go to the store to get another sheet. She probably learned that from her Mom. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers.

I Think I Did It!!!!!

It's Sunday

Its Sunday and I am waiting to go to church. Our Sacrament meeting time changed from 8:30 to 1:00. I got to sleep in this morning. We just finished the Nebeker reunion. it was fun and it was nice to see all the family. You won't beleive that I'm saying this but there was to much food. We bairley finished one meal and they were trying to feed us another. I had to work Friday making sure a job got installed so I missed the Friday activity where they went around to where the grandfathers lived in Payson. I would have liked to have seen that. You mom said she would take me around in the near future. On Friday night Joe Buck did his butterfly dance at the talent show. It was interesting but funny. We all had a fun time.
I think Joe Stoney is going back to Irac tomarrow.(Monday) I just want to wish him the best and I want you to know that we all pray for you every day. We love you and want you safe home in January. I sounds like you spent your time well while you were home. Fixing up your bedroom. Anyway Gods speed. I am putting in a picture of a countertop I created for Joe Stoneys sake if I can figure out how.
I love you all and YOU are what I live for. God Bless you all. Dad

SHANE

Of course, for you, you should live somewhere where the water is warm, the sand smooth, and the rent is low. For us, just move home to the intermountain west. Who knows why Kim is trying to sway everyone to Texas--awfully selfish of her if you ask me--she won't be there too much longer anyway.

Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man

I know this picture does not show it, although you can tell a little, but when my little kid smiles, he looks exactly like the Ghostbusters monster! Is that bad for a father to say?

Shane of course you should move to Texas. I think we want you the most. I don't think a nucleur bomb will go off here for the next few years because we are still here. And yea where are those other siblings?

Missing family members . . .

Where's Mom, Christy & Kirk and Marshall?

Tuesday in NYC

Well, most of you know that I'm heading out of NYC in a few weeks, but I thought I'd post it anyway. Oh, and by the way, I'm up for any suggestions as to where I should live next. Anyone? Anyone?

Hope everyone is not too hungry

Hi It is fast sunday today and I hope you are all doing well today. Joe and I are almost done with the bedroom. It has been a fun week but we are going slow and just enjoying it really. Bryar hates it because of course she wants to be involved with everything and we have a nice blockade keeping her out of the room so she won't get into the tools. She just stands there and watches. It is actually pretty cute but she can't wait until it gets done either. We just have to do all the priming and painting and we can get back in and stop sleeping in our living room.

Joe is just on the phone getting our San Antonio trip settled with an old missionary companion. Him and his wife are going to watch Bryar for us so we can go to the temple. We just got our temple recomends last week and Joe was told in priesthood by the bishop that they are going to go to new barcoded temple recomends in the next four months so we will have to do the process all over again in a month or two. Not that it is too hard I guess just one of those things you don't want to have to go and take care of often. But it has been fun to have Joe home and just so you all know we have put this site on our home page so we can instantly see if anyone has said anything. I think you should all do it too.

Lots of love from Joe and Kim

Does this really work?

Hello family

I am just wasting some time away out here in Wisconsin, so I thought I would contribute. I am just making sure this works before I download pictures and spend a lot of time to not have anything post. Marshall and I are doing well and business is good.

Last weekend we went to Nauvoo and Carthage. That was really cool and the temple is beautiful. We followed up our spiritual weekend by going to the Miller Brewery in Milwaukee this week. It was also really cool but in a different way. If anyone is into drinking, they give free samples of MGD at the end of the tour.

hi

hello family
hi everyone, I'm now a blogger

Hi Me and Joe are just planning to
do a little remodeling of the bedroom. I just gave you the before pictures and soon you will be getting the after. Hope everyone is doing well.
