weekly update

i'm gonna start giving a weekly update to you guys, (though not quite so extensive as my previous post), and that way my mission will last forever and i'll be able to look back on it. also so that mom feels like i communicate with the fam. i'm thankful to have not been involved in jeff's project but all i've done since i got here is service, so i'm getting my fair share. i have absolutely nothing of interest to say, but i keep rambling on because theres nothing else to do at the moment and i'm in a tired/silly mood much like unto kati when it gets late. you all need to post occasional pictures of your children so that i can see them grow and recognize them when i get back. i'll try to send you pictures of baptisms, except for my first one because i didn't get a picture of it. anyway my afore stated goal of keeping it short has been compromised and i apologize to all of you who took the time to read this uneventful post, love ya-weston

For those in (or coming to visit) Utah:

I have to say I found a new place that has the BEST fries and truly great hamburgers. It's called 5 Guys and it just opened up by my place. It's the first Utah location and the fries are just like the ones I loved back East!!

Life In Virginia

If anyone in this family has wondered what exactly it feels like to install a security system and fully enjoy all the wonderful people and experiences you get to have, then this video here may help you catch a glimpse at the life of being a technician.

Not to be too heavy, but I think this is important:

From "They Thought They Were Free," describing the German reaction to Hitler:

"Suddenly it all comes down, all at once. You see what you are, what you have done, or, more accurately, what you haven't done ( for that was all that was required of most of us: that we do nothing). You remember those early meetings of your department in the university when, if one had stood, others would have stood, perhaps, but no one stood. A small matter, a matter of hiring this man or that, and you hired this one rather than that. You remember everything now, and your heart breaks. Too late. You are compromised beyond repair.

From a German explaining the lack of resistance to Hitler . . .

If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and the smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked – if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in "43" had come immediately after the "German Firm" stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in "33". But of course this isn't the way it happens. In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D. And one day, too late, your principles, if you were ever sensible of them, all rush in upon you."

We love SUMMER~!

Strawberry Days has become quite the tradition for our family. We aren't going to the rodeo this year, though, because Joe Buck has scout camp. Next year we are going to sign Ian up for the Mutton Bust. We are so excited. But, we went to the carnival and Ian had a hayday. Enjoy the photos . . .

The Royal Bank of Scotland is a pretty official source.

Guess who?

hey family this weston from the mission. alls well out here and i'm glad to see you're all having an enjoyable time without me.(and here i thought i was the key to happiness) anyway i've had a baptism already so thats pretty cool. the works going well, and i have many prospects for baptism. i'm in aurora right now and it looks for the most part just like utah valley, so its hard for me to believe i'm on a mission. i love everybody even if i don't have time to write. happy birthday to dad rem shane jeff and jacob in the upcoming month of july.(i had better say it now so i don't forget. also i believe ians birthday is approaching but i'm not sure, because after the first couple of nephews/nieces its hard to remember birthdays since i don't even know the exact birthdays of my siblings. however don't think that means i don't love you, rather think that its because i'm constantly amazed at your christlike attributes, so much so that trifles such as birthdays go unheeded in respect of a grander picture. anyway before i take the entire blog with this message i will bid farewell. jeff put pictures of your house as you remodel it so that i can joy in the work being done without being the one doing it. i love you all -Elder Atwood(weston for those who don't know)

our family vacation

Chicago

We went to Weston's kingdom the other day, and, inspired by Weston's previous posts, decided to visit his kidney bean (Cloudgate). It was actually very large and very awesome--a really cool study in reflections. See if you can quickly locate the Joe Buck.
Hello family. It has been awhile and I am still not going to write much but just let you all know that we moved into our new house on Thursday. We are still in a mess and unpacking boxes. Moving is soooo fun. Anyway all is well and we are excited to come to the reunion to see everyone.

Nauvoo Temple

We got back Sunday night from our trip to Missouri, Illinois, and then the 4 states on the way back, whatever they were. I just have to say that the Temple in Nauvoo is by far the most beautiful I have seen on the inside. I absolutely loved it, and think that it is amazing that someone donated the cash to rebuild it to the church. I also have to say that for me, though intellectually I loved Adam-ondi-Ahman, and it was amazing, there was an undeniable and impressive spirit in Carthage that was very special.

Weston's in Chicago!!!

Weston has arrived and is laboring in Chicago South. His new address is always at the Mission home because transfers happen every six weeks and it is confusing to the post office. So, mail all letters or packages to:

Elder Weston Atwood
Illinois Chicago South Mission
1319 Butterfield Rd., Ste. 522
Downers Grove, IL 60515

Hope there will be at least some letters going forth to your little brother who is the greatest!!!

Did somebody say reunion?

So not only did I get a way cute card from Ton today (which I will be keeping for future ideas) but inside was even more fun news! I just want to say that I'm way excited about the reunion this year! It sounds like lots of fun and thanks to Doug and Ton for planning it and opening up there home(s) to us. Its going to be way fun!
And on a side note, Kirk is at his last day of school and then gets to be done with his year. Done with the old school, on with the new.
Love to all.

Interesting - 7 minute video

More Pictures

Well, since Kristen got a camera for Mother's Day, we now take pictures, so I will post some occasionally. By the way, Joshua fell off the toilet while brushing his teeth last night and bumped his head on Kirk's marvelous tile.

an update from us

Hi everyone I guess it has been a little while since we have participated in this little family blog so we can give a little update now. We did get to Alabama after a three day journey. We stopped at the beach one of the days and let Bryar play with her dad in the water while mom looked on feeding the baby. Yea always feeding a baby. On Sunday of last week we checked into the army hotel and here we still sit a week later. We did find a house that we liked and it is very very close to Joe's work so that will be a nice commute. That will also help with gas since the prices are so high right now. Anyway if all goes perfect then we will be in the house by this Friday but if not by next Friday at the latest. We will have to send pictures when we get all situated. Bryar and Bridger have been troopers. Can't complain too much but it sure will be nice to have them in a house and on a schedule again. And Bryar will have a ton of room to run around and just run instead of being cooped up in the hotel room getting into everything that she can possibly find to get into. Well, I guess I should end before this gets too long and nobody wants to read it or is it too late for that already. Until later
