Happy Fathers Day Dad.  We all hope that you are having a great experience serving a mission.  This is your time to shine.  Your time to show us as your children that you are a missionary.  No more putting yourself down because you were not a returned missionary.  You soon will be.  And now you are an example to yourself that you can do it, to your family who never doubted that you were missionary material, and to your grandchildren who love you unconditionally for who you are.

But in spite of all of that you have been the best example of a father that we could all ask for.  You were always there for us.  You taught us hard work, and service.  You taught us love and compassion.  You never missed a game no matter how unimportant it was.  Even our silly church games you were always in the crowd cheering us on.  You showed us by your love and example who and what was the most important thing in your life.  You showed us that we were your million dollars by the time you were 30.  We were what meant more to you than money.

Sometimes you may feel like a failure in some things.  Sometimes you may feel like you don't know the gospel like a scholar.  Sometimes you may think that you have not provided a rich living for your family.  Sometimes you may feel like you can't compete with the boys that are now men in this family.  But I am writing this to you so that you know, as your children, you are not a failure because you have a wonderful family who loves the Lord, the gospel, and each other because of you.  You do know the gospel well enough to make your family love it.  You are rich because you taught us to work hard and we all provide good livings for our families.  And you are THE man among all the men in this family because it was you who taught your sons to be men.  They are who they are because of you!!!

We love you, we respect you and we believe that you are one amazing man and even more importantly, one amazing father.  I'm writing this but I know that I do so with all your children agreeing with me.

Ok our blog needs a bit of participation so here is a question for you all.  Give me your best input!!!  What would be the best Christmas movie for a movie night at the reunion.  Lets get some favorites and vote for them.  I can say right now I will be vetoing "Christmas Story" so don't put that one on the list.  And I'm not sure that the kids will be loving "White Christmas" even though it is a good one.  So put some ideas up here and then I will put together a vote.  This sounds like fun!!!

How to find Happiness

"Your future is as bright as your faith.  Your happiness depends more on the principles you choose to follow than on the external circumstances of your life.  Be faithful to these principles.  God knows you and loves you.  If you live in harmony with His eternal plan and if you have faith in His promises, then your future will shine."

Bishop Gerald Causse, at a CES Devotional address (He's from France)
