Just thought I'd let everyone know what was going on this side of town. Carter had another test yesterday to see if the G-tube(feeding through the tummy like Ryan) and the nicn (tightening the top of the tummy between the esophagus and stomach for reflex) was still what we needed to do. They found another complication. He had a blockage going out of the tummy and he wasn't emptying anything. So, they couldn't do the nisn because then if we feed him and it cant go up and cant go down, it would put a hole in his stomsch leading to serious problems. AKA death. So today was surgery day. We decided to put in the G-tube and clip the bottom of the stomach so food could empty. They will see how he handles that and if it helps the reflex at all. If he still has reflex in a few days, they will still have to go in and do the nicn because of his asperating problem. Everytime he throws up or eats oraly, he has food going to his lungs. So his reflex could still be a problem but we're hopeing that it was caused by the bottom not letting food through so it just went up instead. We took the class showing how to take care of and feed through the button. -And as a side note; I have a totaly new respect for Doug and Tonia. They both went through so much. It's hard stuff and a lot of emotional pressure. You guys are amazing.- Now they just have to get Carter back to regular feedings which will take about two weeks. Unless, of course, the reflex is still there and then they will do the nicn and it will take about two weeks after that. Love the waiting game.
All the rest of us are doing good. I still have my daily trips to the Hospital and Kirk goes off to work. Our kitchen is still where it was before Christmas so we are going to try to finish all the little things before spring comes and we start our outside projects.
Thanks for all you support and love.
