great video on charity

this was a byu devotional or forum if there is a difference between the two (i dont go to either obviously) but its on the positive effects and the reason to give. very interesting but kind of long (40 min or so) you'll have to copy and paste this into the browser, i coudn't find embedding > http://soa.li/0iSsNFR

Scripture of the Day

"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness.  I give unto me weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them."  Ether 12:27

another fun post

So on the inside of our window between the screen and the window a bird built a nest and laid two eggs.  We were all so excited because we can see it so well and it was really fun for the kids to check on it every day (or three times a day).  Unfortunately it has a sad ending.  The first egg hatched two days before the second one and it died for some reason (probably my kids scarred the mom away way to many times).  So after it died the mom abandoned the nest and the next day the other egg hatched.  So sadly that bird died as well with no one to take care of it (We did try sugar water but it died anyway because we waited too long).  I know, why am I telling you this sad story (we did give them a good funeral)?  Because another bird has landed in the same spot and has laid two more eggs.  Hopefully this has a little better turnout.  I'm trying to keep the kids from checking on it all the time and maybe this time we can see little birds that learn to fly.  It has been just as fun for me.  When do you ever get this close to a birds nest.

You gotta love being a mom!!!

So you just have to love your kids in these kind of moments.  When you go to help your husband with important things for his work for a few minutes and you come to check your kids and this is what you see. Just as your husband looks at the mess,  kisses you and says, "see ya later I've got to go to work".  I know what your first thought is, "why does she even have hot chocolate in that blistering hot country"?   At this point you have two options.
1.  Strangle your kids and wonder how to cover it up, all the while wondering why you don't agree with your husband as he says, "and you want another one"!!
or
2. Go get the camera and take some pictures of the evidence,  spend the next hour of your time getting it all cleaned up while trying to keep the kids out of it and trying to keep water far away from any area that has hot chocolate powder.
You can probably guess at which option I chose.  I didn't have much choice anyway when the first thing that Asher said to me as I walked in to see the damage was, "Mom we made a mess.  Clean it all up".  Good thing that I have been putting off my mopping.

Battle Hymn Schools

Spawn of Satan by Night...

...cutest human being on the planet by mid-morning.

We had a rough night with Mr. Tyson last night. He pretty much screamed the ENTIRE night while we did our best to try and ignore/not smother him.

I knew he wouldn't make it long today, that the sleep deprivation would get to him. When I noticed it was just a little too quiet in the other room, I thought I should go check and see what he was destroying.

Here is what I found.
A bundle of blankets, stuffed with a little boy.
Sometimes I just want to beat him. Other times I just want to kiss him forever, disregarding the fact that it may be causing weird, mommy issues in the future.

Dear Mr. Atwood: Congratulations! American Fork High School students & faculty in the Department of Life Skills has reviewed your file and recommended to the level of Graduate.  So much so, that upon revision, we have decided to allow for re-admission upon request for the subsequent school year.

Figured we could all share some of our latest accomplishments...

The Future of Education

I have decided to take over the blog - as you can all see.  I know Shane hates Glenn Beck, but this is interesting on where the education of our children is headed.  12 minutes

Talk On Grace

Read this talk by Brad Wilcox on Grace.  If you have not read it, it will change your perspective on Grace and the Atonement.  At least it did mine.  I am like the girl in the initial story - at least I was until I read this.  It should only take 15 minutes or so.
