Baby Update

Hello everybody. Sorry about the pictures. He is under a light for Jandis. We'll get better pictures without the light. Just a little update to let you all know what is going on, although I'm sure mom has done a great juob of this. Baby is doing well so far. He just needs to gain weight and learn how to eat. There could, of course be problems that develope later but that is just a case of waiting it out and taking it day by day. They are trying to transfer Carter to Utah but it looks like this wont happen until at least next week so we will be a divided family for a while at least. Kirk will go back to work and I'll stay back in California. The boys have yet to be decided on. I am doing well. I feel great and it doesn't seem like I just had a baby. It still hasn't sunk in yet.
We want to thank everyone for their prayers and fasting for us. We have witnessed little miracles already in this process and have felt the love from you all. It is a big comfort to have family and friends around to give support. Thank you all so much for what you have done so far and all the offers of help (which might still be accepted) that you have given to us. We love you all.

Christy in hospital

Christy is in the Loma Linda University Hospital in Calif. She has had some trouble with the pregnancy and is being kept there for her safety and the baby's, and under observation until the baby is born. We will keep all of you posted on her condition. She has been moved to a room where you may call her at: 909-558-4000 extention 46313. Call her anytime during the day except between 2:00--4:00 pm when they like to keep quiet hours. I'm sure she would enjoy any of your calls. Her spirits are good, but it is also a trying time for both of them. Our prayers are with their family. We love you Christy & Kirk & Porter & Brock.

merry Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, and with great elation,
Barack Obama was planning to “change” the nation.
Corporate stockings were hung at the Congress with care
in the hopes that bailouts soon would be there.
The public was nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of tax cuts danced in their heads.
Women in their kerchiefs and men in their caps
had unfortunately settled for political c___.
When over the airwaves there arose such a clatter,
people sprang from their lethargy to see what was the matter.
Away to the TV, they flew like a flash,
heard economic bad news and feared for their cash.
Stocks on the Dow hit a new fallen low,
creating more fears down the tubes we would go.
When what to our tearful eyes should appear
but Congressional leaders allaying our fears.
With their leader Obama so lively and quick,
we knew in a moment there must be a fix.
More rapid than politicians fleeing all blame,
Barack whistled and called his allies by name.
Now Daschle, now Geithner, now Gates and Biden,
on Rahm, on Pelosi, on Reid and Clinton (Hillary).
"To the top of the world," we heard him call,
“Proclaim our agenda, Socialism for all!”…
Obama flashing his smile spoke in such prose
that the world was in awe at this king that arose.
He sprang to his throne, to his team gave a whistle.
National sovereignty was gone without the firing of missiles.
But I heard him exclaim from his lofty height,
Now I possess such great power, there’s no use to fight (it
ok someone needs to post something. How can we move on from our sorrow of Lloyd's passing if that is all we see every time that we check what the family is doing. There has to be something of interest there it is the holiday season. As for us same o same o. Just kiding we did have a progressive dinner in our neighborhood. It was a lot of fun. There are some pretty nice houses around here so it was nice to go in and see how they decorate and how their floor plans are. The neighbors and the dinner was nice as well. We had a lot of fun and had a nice gift exchange at the end and got a serving platter and a cute christmas frame. Anyway this week is baking christmas treets. See that wasn't that hard. Who is next?

Just a reminder that your Uncle Lloyd Gardner passed away Dec. 5, 2008 of a massive heart attack. He was a gentle giant. I wish you could have all known him the way I did. Dad

all i want for christmas...

well i may have missed the christmas package, but if i haven't, for the first time i've ever done so to my recollection, i have wants for this christmas!!!!! (cheering settles) you may not care but if there are those among you who do... i would like a pair of adidas(10.5-11) and two or three AAA plain t-shirts. i know its a hefty list, but shall we not go on in so great a cause? i would ask that joe or rem choose the pair of adidas and yellow blue and mystery color would be the choices on the shirts. now if i have by chance missed the christmas boat and by the time you get this from chicago(after all the usps is pretty incompetant) you've moved on to bigger and better things, theres always time for my birthday in april.the fourth by the way. i realized the other day that i can't remember with certainty a single birthday other than moms(dec 10) so i figured you guys don't remember either. anyway as you can tell theat i have nothing to say, i will sign off.

A timely quote for a past talk from Elder Neil A. Maxwell (1978):
'Make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency.  Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions. President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had 'never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional or political life.'

'This is hard doctrine, but it is particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked.  In short, brothers and sisters, not being
ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ.  . . . Your discipleship may see the time when such religious convictions are discounted. . . . This new irreligious imperialism seeks to disallow certain opinions simply because those opinions grow out of religious convictions.

'Resistance to abortion will be seen as primitive.  Concern over the institution of the family will be viewed as untrendy and unenlightened....
Before the ultimate victory of the forces of righteousness, some skirmishes will be lost.  Even in these, however, let us leave a record so that the choices are clear, letting others do as they will in the face of prophetic counsel.
There will also be times, happily, when a minor defeat seems probable, but others will step forward, having been rallied to rightness by what we do.  We will know the joy, on occasion, of having awakened a slumbering majority of the decent people of all races and creeds which was, till then, unconscious of itself.  Jesus said that when the fig trees put forth their leaves, 'summer is nigh.'  Thus warned that summer is upon us, let us not then complain of the heat.'
                                  --- Elder Neal A. Maxwell

It Speaks!

Jonas' first word, spoken in my classroom today, was a pretty cool word: COOL

I WIN I WIN I WIN

Let me preface this by saying - I never win - ANYTHING! So, even when I COULD win- but don't ACTUALLY win - I get all warm and fuzzy. I'm sure I've lost you. Well, take a gander at this people!

Just perusing the blog - I happened to glance at the visit meter thingy. I WAS NUMBER 7777. I must be pretty desperate to feel special.

Well It is official. He is now crawling. The day after his seven month birthday he decided to finally stop rocking back and forth like he has been for about three weeks now and actually moved forward. Thanks to Joe crawling around and showing him how.

Just a little late...

So, here are some cute pictures for you all to enjoy. It took awhile because we don't have a camera (another story-ask Kirk) so I had to get them from a friends camera. Porter was fine with his costume until the black paint went on the eyes. Then here was scared of himself and refused to look in the mirror the rest of the evening. It made for a somber Halloween. But he had tons of fun trick-or-treating. He wouldn't say it or thank you but was good at 'Happy Halloween' and 'Next house'. It was a fun night.
Nothing else is happening other than getting over a four day head cold and letting my kids watch as many movies as they wanted. Go Tarzan! Unfortunatly, now that I'm feeling a little better, I'm going to have to deal with their TV withdrawls.
Kirk's excited to go down to Cali. for Christmas and thats the only thing we have comin gup that we know of. Pretty fun stuff. Love to all.

cold as .....................<-wow thats a lot of dots

its forty here with seventy percent humidity and i haven't seen the sun in an unexagerrated(is that even a word?) two weeks. i've never been in a more depressing place and i long for those purple mountains and alabaster cities all those songs lie about. if chicago was a popcicle it would be a dirty, freezer-burned, orange soda one, served of course with fried chickenfrom a mafia owned restaurant. on a lighter note i now found out that the only way to get root beer extract in chicago is by going through your local people. the stores have every other type of flavoring and extract but aparently fat tony decided that root beer extract was the key to shutting down the police force. kind of a random thing for the mafia to control if you ask me, but now i have an excuse not to make homemade rootbeer, other than the obvious reason of laziness. also i'm trying to think af a hobby that i can adopt that will occupy five hours of everyday from now until february. it's against the rules of our mission to go out past dark, and since it gets dark at four-thiry, five ish, that leaves a lot of down time. any suggestions?

Moving to Utah Saturday

Hello all, so that you know, I will be moving down to Utah this Saturday. Now, I will need help unloading stuff, but the BYU game begins at 4:00. So, I figure that we all have a BYU party at the Atwoods house and either at halftime or after the game we unload my precious cargo into the place. Who's with me?

I'm BACK!!!

Hello everyone,

I knew you were all worried because I haven't been posting very often. Thanks for all the concern about my well being. Although it has been a while since my little excursion to Costa Rica, I have returned from any outings since then without any visual evidence. Hope you enjoy.

P.S. Shane was right, Costa Rica is like Hawaii, but better.

Brian Kehl

Some good news for cougar fans--Kehl is doing awesome, apparently, at the NYGiants. He had an intercerption yesterday, and the fans all love him more than the previous starter (injured) who may not be the starter anymore. He was splitting time with Kehl before his injury anyway.

Obama's sketchy past and heritage (10 min)

And how do you like the name of the picture company?

thirsty?

We just want to know if Kristen had a placenta shake afterwards...

And the winner is...

Sadie Paige Atwood, named after Kristen's great-grandma (Sadona, but called Sadie thankfully) on her mother's side that was best friends with Emily, Kristen's great-grandma on her father's side. Kristen's mom and dad did not know that though until they had been married for a long time. So now the best friends are our two oldest daughters (knowing me, we'll have several more and Joshua will be the lone Y chromosome in the family). Paige is a lovely girl in the ward that we love, and like the name as well.

Re: Urgent Help Needed

Would love to help you--but I am busy with my own concernes. For example:

I am going to play the top defense in the country, which is also the fastest defense I will coach against all year. I think that the screen play is ridiculous, as it is designed to slow down opposing team's defenses--why would I do that? In addition, I am looking for a great running scheme. I have a 245 lb. running back, but I think that quick-hitting dives and traps are stupid, so refuse to do them. Instead, I think that I'll use a zone-rush blocking scheme, which takes about 1.5-2 seconds longer to develop and relies on defenders being slower than the offense.
Lastly, to attack the speed of the defensive backs, I need to think of something. I know the traditional technique involves flodding zones, and making the defender choose between two receivers, but that is foolish. I think I'll continue to run just one receiver in each zone so they can be bracketed by the safteies, thus forcing my quarterback to throw into double coverage.

We are not alone! (3 min)

Urgent Help Needed

Hey everyone. I know you have helped me in the past, but I need your help again. I need to try to find defensive backs that can line up 12 yards off the ball and then get into a quick backpedal on every play, making the 5-7 yard catch impossible to defend. These backs would then have to be able to allow an average receiver from a below-average quarterback to complete a 15 yard pass (on 3rd and 12) and be at least 5-7 yards away when the softly-thrown ball gets there. However, all 40 yard passes from running teams must be able to be covered decently well, but still be allowed to be completed. If anyone knows where I could find these defensive backs, and the coaches that help them learn these fine skills, please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you!

Book of Mormon Society Ripe for Destruction:

"Watch money. Money is the barometer of a society's virtue. When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

Buying Metals

Hey all . . .

So I made my first purchase of silver today

It was interesting and fun to do.

That's all :-)
I pledge allegiance to Goldman Sachs, and to the conspiracy for which it stands, one racket under Paulson, Communist and indivisible, with eviction and poverty for all.

Justifacation

For the past few months, I have been drooling over a new camera. Specifically the Nikon D-90 with the 18-200mm lens with an additional 50mm lens. Just in case you wanted to know.

Well, I recently borrowed a D-80 from a friend and VOILA! Suddenly I think I am an amateur photographer. Anyway, I'm just looking for justification to buy one - and let me tell you it won't take much. So, here are a few shots we took . . .

Humble Pie

Well, for all those I have talked to about our coming baby's gender, I would just like to say that I was way off. Kirk and I went to the doctor yesterday and it is unmistakenly a little boy. Forget about the fact that I knew, even before I was pregnant, that it would be a girl and have been telling everyone that I thought it would be a girl. So now I take it all back. I new it was a boy from the first.
We are still excited though because our boys so far are pretty cute and this one can't help but be the same. Now that I'm excited to have a girl, I told Kirk we wont be waiting as long to have another one after this. By that it might be a whole two years apart. I doubt I can handle another for a while. But, we are still excited and if this were to teach me a lesson, which it hasn't really, I'd learn not to be so sure of myself.
Love to all.

The Bailout Holds For Now

So the market was up about 300 points before the "Bailout" vote in the House. As soon as it passed the market dropped and even went negative after the supposed "good news." It's now up again, but all of the newscasters are talking about how crazy the situation is and whether the Bailout will fix anything, anyway.

Just an update :-)
